Digital Harbor Football Team

Few people at Digital Harbor High School thought that the Rams would be able compete with other schools for a city’s championship. But the Rams are on a winning streak of 6-1. This is probably the best year the Rams have had in the last 4 years. There are a lot of the seniors that are stepping up so they can leave Digital Harbor with a good memory.
Coach Pops is very impressed with his football team this year. Pops said “He likes the new football team. All the kids are into the program. The Digital Harbor Rams are trying to go from becoming a team into a program. The teams start in the offseason by attacking very aggressive by getting in shape & it’s paying off on the field. The seniors are having a lot of leadership with this team.”
This year the Digital Harbor Rams feels as though they go all the way because they have a lot of key players that can make plays on & off the field. The quarterback Dequantae Rhymer says “He feels good because they on a winning streak. Our record is 6-1 only team we lost to was city. We’ve been working hard since February in the weight room working out, getting in shape.”  This year the Digital Harbor Rams feels as though they go all the way because they have a lot of key players that can make plays on & off the field.
Donte Shell is another player on the Digital Harbor Rams. He also is very confident in the football team. “We made a lot of progress, came a long way & we really took the time to dedicate ourselves to the team this year. We have the potential to go to states. All the seniors are giving the juniors a positive message that this school can know for more sports other than track and basketball.

Ellis Winston is a one of the captains one the football team. Even tho he cannot play football he motivates the team so they can go out there & win games. “Football team is good, we plan on being 9-1 when the season is over. Go to the playoffs & win states so we can have a banner up with 2014. Seniors are doing well but we have a “super senior Tim Tim” he always come through & make good plays for the team.

Ms. Balaram makes impact in the her first year

At the start of every new school year, students come back to school and reunite with their old friends. But the new geometry teacher Ms. Balaram had no one to reconnect with. Welcome to the life of a first year teacher.
Ms. Balaram is a first year math teacher at Digital Harbor, and this year she is teaching geometry, Algebra I, and Algebra II.
Ms. Sappe , the math IST, met Ms. Balaram through Teach For America. According to its website, Teach for America is an organization that recruits new teachers to teach in high-need school districts. “Ms. Balaram asks a lot of questions, and she is a hard worker,” said Ms. Sappe.
Roy Bennett is a sophomore in Ms. Balaram’s Algebra class. He said that he feels great about his new geometry teacher. “Ms. Balaram helps the students a lot with their work,” he said. He added, “Ms. Balaram is a cool teacher.”
Before teaching at Digital Harbor, Ms. Balaram was teaching at a school in West Philadelphia called Boys Latin. This is her first year in Baltimore City.
Ms. Balaram loves math. “Math is like life because in math you have everything you need, like in life you have everything, but there are certain steps you have to take to complete the task,” she said. She hopes that her students can feel the same way she feels about math.
She is enjoying her time at Digital Harbor so far. The school she was at before was different from Digital because it was an all boys school, which made for fewer “flirty distractions.” But Ms. Balaram enjoys the opportunity to teach girls, and she said that she admires both schools’ passions to work together for the best interests of the students.
New teachers attend to stay in the building, so get used to seeing Ms. Balaram.

New Teacher Profile

Digital Harbor welcomes a new history teacher name Ms. Davis-Featherstone.
Ms. Davis-Featherstone is from Brooklyn, New York. She like the motto of the school and that the school is centered around technology and building careers. She also isn’t new to dealing with students before coming to Digital Harbor she taught at a charter school teaching 8th grade history. And she isn’t no stranger to helping people because she also was a case manager for a homeless shelter. She has been enjoying her time at Digital & she has a lot of bright students in her class. She feels as though her & her students have started build a relationship with one another. “My first day was interesting because all of the kids thought I was mean & some still thinks that she is but they like & respect. I’m not mean I just care about my students a lot. Yes, I’m strict on them because I want them to know that when they graduate high school that they are going to be competing with other graduates from Baltimore city & in the country. And you have to be competitive like what’s going to set you aside from the next candidate, what are you doing different? So yes I’m strict & I push them to their full potential.”

Freshman Chelsey Gregg likes Ms. Featherstone-Davis a lot because she is a nice & kind person. Ms. Featherstone takes her time with the students & is very patient with us. Chelsey describes Ms. Featherstone as intelligent, funny, easy going & she can be hard on you if she feels like you need a extra push. “ The class is fun if you pay attention it’s not hard at all. It’s easy to get a high grade in this class if you willing to put in the work.”

A new teacher profile

Everyone remembers their first day at school. Have you ever thought of a teacher’s first day at a new school, meeting new people, being nervous? Ms. Inqui is a new math teacher at Digital Harbor.
Ms. Inqui was teaching at a school in Philadelphia teaching algebra and other math classes. Ms. Inqui was looking forward to coming back to Maryland to teach at a school. “Thought that Digital would be a good fit for her, the people were nice to work with, the school is organized, likes the motto of the school with learning, serving, and leading through technology ” said Ms. Inqui. She was very nervous her first day because it was bigger than the high school she attended, also got l lost like most students do on their first day of school. Now that she is at Digital she enjoys meeting the students.
Junior Harrison Larkins said “He likes her class a lot & she is a very nice teacher. He feels like he learns a lot in her class. The pace of the class is quick but it’s still slow enough for you to understand.” He describes her as really nice teacher and really patient with the students in her class. “She also knows how to control the class down when it gets loud.

This is my story on my high school principle

For most students think spending a day with Dr. Bowden can be a punishment but actually it could more interesting than you may think.
When people think of Dr. Bowden they think of her being mean & worrying about business. But she actually thinks more of the students that attend here. She likes to play around & sing songs. She is human being like everyone else. She helps a lot with Student Government Association (SGA) when they are doing things around the school. Whenever there is a situation with seniors Bowden handles the situation. Dr. Bowden also helps Mrs. Connell, Mr. Dizard, and Mr. Sass with yearbook pictures. Mr. Eyer had asked Dr. Bowden to write a letter to send out to the parents for parent and teacher conferences with their child progress report for the second quarter.  Dr. Bowden received new information from Mr. Holmes about sports.
When I spent the day with Dr. Bowden it was quite interesting. I never she could be so much fun and funny. When we was on the elevator she was singing a song that made me laugh. That was my first time I was with her and I would’ve never thought that a busy women like Dr. Bowden can remember a lot of students name. That day was educational too because I never knew all the work she does around the school I only thought she did things for the 2014 class. But Dr. Bowden is a really nice lady even though she can be a strict lady, she cares a lot about the students.
